When the American Rescue Plan was signed into law by
President Biden on March 11, 2021, it included enhanced federal funding through tax credits to help individuals and families get lower cost health care coverage through the Marketplace. Some members who did not qualify previously, may now be eligible for these savings, which can significantly lower the cost of their monthly premiums.
Individuals who purchased off-exchange individual plans and on-exchange PENNIE plans before March 1st have a potential cost saving opportunity. The deadline to apply for 2021 coverage is August 15, 2021. Members can contact the Chamber’s recommended insurance broker to learn more:

Answers to questions you may have:
Q: Why is the Chamber doing this outreach?
A: We value our members so we want to make sure they are enrolled in the best possible plan for their needs while also receiving the maximum savings for which they are eligible.
Q: Will my deductible and out of pocket accumulators carry over to the new plan on Pennie?
A: Yes! My Benefit Advisor says all accumulators will carry over to their new on-exchange plan.
Q: Will my off-exchange policy automatically terminate?
A: No. MBA recommends you contact the insurance company to terminate the off-exchange plan.
Q: Will I receive a new member ID number and card?
A: Yes, and MBA advises to provide your new ID number to your providers and pharmacy.
Q: Do I need a Special Enrollment Period (SEP) to switch to a plan on Pennie?
A: Yes, however, the COVID-19 SEP is currently available to all Pennsylvania residents so they can use this SEP to enroll in new coverage until 8/15/21.
Q: What if I am currently enrolled in autopay with my insurance company? Will the autopay roll over to the new plan?
A: No. MBA says when members receive their new ID number, they will need to set up autopay again. MBA can help get this set up.
