Email Phishing Alert
We are writing again to show you an example of the phishing scam that has gone to many of our members.
Phishing doesn’t appear to be going away anytime soon.
So, we thought that we would share some tips on how to identify if an email message is legitimate.
Cybercriminals use phishing to ask recipients to click on a link that takes them to a page where they will need to confirm personal data, account information, etc.,
Phishing is a way that hackers can con you into providing your personal information or account data, then they use this to steal sensitive information.
And, Phishing emails are becoming more sophisticated. However, there are hints within the message to help you ascertain if an email is legitimate.
Legitimate organizations do not request your private information via an email message.
Legitimate companies have domain emails. Hover your mouse over the “from” address to make sure that there are no alterations in the email (like additional letters or numbers).
Look at the link. If the URL doesn’t match the location indicated (again hover your cursor over the link).
Email scams are not going to get less prevalent. Be very careful when reading your emails and especially careful when clicking on a link or opening an attachment.
We hope this is helpful. And, more than anything, we hope each of our members is staying safe and secure.
Here is the email in question. See if you can detect the red flags:

(Your Name),
Are you available to assist? I am out of the State now and I've got credence in you to take care of this.I would have called your phone but I presently do not have access to my mobile phone.
The Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce needs some gift cards for donation to Veterans at Hospice and Palliative care units for preventive items from Corona Virus (COVID 19). I have decided to make it a personal duty. I will be
responsible for the reimbursement.
