As we hope you are aware by now, this morning our members were victims of a Cyber Security Phishing expedition. We are truly grateful that our members are trusting of our brand and we realize that this trust, combined with generous hearts, may have caused people to click on the donation link. If you
clicked on the link or attempted to make a contribution via the GoFundMe email that was sent out from a disreputable source, we highly recommend that you change your Pay Pal password.
Additionally, Furia Rubel Communications has shared some suggestions that could prove useful when determining if an email is suspicious.
1. The email sent this morning interspersed two different sized fonts
2. If you scrolled over the GoFundMe button, it directed you to a Pay Pal account.
3.This morning's email included a photo and first name but no further information about the person/family in need.
4. There were many grammatical errors throughout the email.
5. The logo did not lead back to the Chamber's website
We will be bringing you more information and programs on cyber security as this issue is becoming more and more of a threat to people and businesses.
Again, we thank you for trusting our brand. Please know that our job is to do what is right and honorable for our members. We will never send a GoFundMe solicitation for your funds.
Please contact us if you have further questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Your Chamber Team
